Twitch Category Following

Your data, in this extension.

Twitch Category Following uses your Twitch authorization to show live followed channels in the category you are browsing. It has no publisher backend, analytics or advertising.

Privacy policy · Effective October 25, 2026 · Publisher: Kevin Mok

What it uses

After you approve access on Twitch, the extension receives authorization to read your follows. It uses your Twitch user ID, login and authorization expiry, and retrieves live followed-channel details, including titles, viewer counts, tags, thumbnails and avatars.

It reads the current Twitch category and language/tag filters from the page, URL and Twitch’s saved filter settings to select matching channels. It does not collect general browsing history.

Where data goes

Authorization, renewal, validation and revocation requests go to id.twitch.tv. Followed-stream, category and channel requests go to api.twitch.tv. Images load from Twitch’s static-cdn.jtvnw.net image service. These requests expose ordinary connection information to Twitch, such as your IP address. Twitch handles its services under its privacy notice.

Live results are held in memory and displayed on the Twitch page. The publisher does not receive this data through an extension-operated server, sell it, or use it for advertising.

What stays on your device

Your access token, refresh token, connected account and public application client ID are saved in Chrome’s local extension storage, restricted to trusted extension contexts. This storage is not encrypted. Authorization survives Chrome restarts and extension reloads, updates or disabling/re-enabling. The extension sends the refresh token only to Twitch to renew access automatically. Disconnect clears saved tokens and account data; removal clears extension storage. Pending device approval stays in session memory and is cleared on browser restart or extension reload/update/disable. Your Following/native sort preference is saved in Twitch’s local browser storage, where Twitch can read it. Clearing Twitch site data removes that preference; removing the extension alone does not.

Disconnect and remove

Disconnect clears authorization and account data and attempts to revoke access with Twitch. If that request cannot complete, revoke it through Twitch Connections. Removing the extension deletes its local settings; refresh Twitch to remove displayed results.
